Curtain Wall Renovation
In October, Chicago-based developer Mac Properties welcomed the first residents to its Arc on Armour multifamily development, 211 W. Armour Blvd. in Kansas City.
The Midtown area, specifically Armour Blvd and the Valentine district was once full of the most luxurious and modern apartment hotels in Kansas City. The beautiful curtain wall renovation by JEI Structural Engineering Glazing Design. That was the 1920s and 1930s. Now with the revival of the area, we have taken many of the buildings back to their original magnificence with modern upgrades but preserving the historic details. We have around 25 different buildings with 2000 residents in the area with a focus on building the community around us.
OLD to NEW Curtain Wall Renovation in Kansas City, Missouri
Let us know if we can help you find the perfect apartment for your lifestyle.
As part of an ongoing transformation of the historic Armour corridor in midtown Kansas City, Helix Architects is working with Mac Properties and Silliman Group to renovate the former American Red Cross office building into a progressive multi-family residential development and preserving portions of its original mid-century modern character.
Enhancing Armour Boulevard’s vibrancy with a new multi-family development.
When the Red Cross vacated the building in February 2019, Mac completed a market study to determine the best way to repurpose the building and capitalize on its location in an area currently in the midst of a renaissance. Their findings revealed that office space was no longer the best use, and they chose to move forward with developing a new multi-family property.
Helix will maintain the more distinct features of the building’s facade — notably the arches that span all three stories. By eliminating the red brick that is nestled under the arches, the team will be able to create an inviting presence and bring in more natural daylight to many of the units. For the interior, the design concept will accommodate more than 60 units within the building’s footprint, and residents will be able to take advantage of a work cafe and fitness center.
